Yacht harbour in Balaklava. Sevastopol
Sevastopol has a centuries-old, great and glorious destiny.
The origins of this destiny go back to the times of Ancient Hellas’ prosperity,
the times of dominance of different tribes and peoples who succeeded each
other. Here, in Korsun-Chersonese, Russian writing was born. Here in 988 the
Kiev prince Vladimir was baptized. From here, he began introducing the Russes
to the holy Orthodox faith. Sevastopol is a city with an apostolic essence,
fateful for the fatherland. The rich historical and cultural heritage and
tourism component became the basis of the city’s composition at Russia EXPO.
Balaklava and its bay have the amazing nature and a rich
historical heritage. Combined with the peculiarities of the water area, this
makes it attractive for all types of tourism, including yachting. On the
hillside of Mount Kastron there is an ancient Genoese building - the Cembalo
fortress. This fortress became the dominant feature of the landscape
composition.
In the mock-up of the fortress towers, over its entire
surface, stone roses are planted, creating the effect of a green wall. The
towers are located on a gabion hill. Its upper part is decorated with sedum.
The hill is made of ‘steps’, on which the fortress towers are located. A pine
bonsai nestled on the sides of the hill. The seashore is washed by blue and
white surf of ageratum. And in the sea itself there are mock-ups of yachts.
