Visitors to the RUSSIA EXPO took part in masterclasses on painting a traditional Pomorye folk craft - the Kargopol clay toy.
The section of folk crafts of the Pomorye region at the forum is illustrated by the Kargopol clay toy - a representative of the ancient pottery of the Russian North and one of the key brands of the Arkhangelsk region.
Olga Farutina, an honorary worker of culture of the Arkhangelsk region, master of Kargopol clay toys, told the visitors to the exposition about the history, secrets of molding and painting of Kargopol toys. According to her, this folk craft distinguishes Pomorye from other regions of the country.
"Our toy is peasant and is characterized by greater realism in details. There are many pottery and clay crafts in Russia, but if our toy depicts a man, he is necessarily dressed in a shirt, in lapti, if it is a kitty, it has whiskers. Toys of other regions are more schematic. But ours are like this, as they say - kind," she added.
Olga Farutina is sure that it is very important to preserve the heritage of one's region, especially that which distinguishes it from others.
The stand of the Arkhangelsk region presents the achievements in economic, industrial, agricultural, social, tourist and cultural spheres.
