The gastronomic performance "Sakhalin Taste Traditions" is waiting for the guests of the RUSSIA EXPO on May 1, from 15:00 to 18:00. The program includes a masterclass on pyanse cooking, performances of artists and presentation of the youth festival.

The Sakhalin region is the only island region in the Russian Federation, located on 87 islands. More than 120 nationalities live on Sakhalin. Sakhalin Koreans are the second largest ethnic group living on Sakhalin. The culture and traditions of Russians and Koreans are so closely intertwined on the island that it is no longer possible to separate them, which has significantly influenced the gastronomic preferences of the locals. The cuisine of Russian (Soviet) Koreans was formed as a separate culinary trend.

The main gastronomic symbol of the Sakhalin region is pyanse. It is a traditional steamed Korean bun with cabbage and meat, and one of the most popular types of street food in the Far East. On the Sakhalin Region Day in the House of Russian Cuisine visitors will be offered a masterclass on cooking and tasting of this delicious and healthy dish.

There will also be a presentation of the annual "Youth Pyanse Festival". The program includes taekwondo demonstrations, performances of drummers and folk instruments ensemble "Hanyl", Sakhalin region. The event will be presented by Kim Sun Ne, member of the regional public organization "Sakhalin Koreans".
