"A feeling of exaltation and enormous labor": Ballet Week opened at the RUSSIA EXPO
A grand
opening of the Ballet Week took place at St. Petersburg's stand in Pavilion No.
75. It is held from March 5 to March 11 at the exposition.
During
these days the St. Petersburg stand will host various events: children's
masterclasses and contests with prizes, lectures, workshops on the unique
technique of movement drawing with artist Misha Lenn, masterclasses on
theatrical (ballet) make-up and plastic expression, flash mob, shows of dance
numbers, thematic quizzes, open discussions, performances of artists,
activities for children and teenagers and much more. The stand itself was
decorated with the help of exhibits from the First Position exposition at the
Manege Central Exposition Hall and models of the Boris Eifman Academy of Dance
building.
Boris
Eifman, ballet master and People's Artist of the Russian Federation, took part
in the Ballet Week opening ceremony.
"It is
a great honor for us to participate in such a grand event as the RUSSIA EXPO.
We as an academy are still quite young, but we already have our own
achievements. And our participation in such an Exposition shows that we are on
a very important and correct path of development and education of a new
generation of ballet dancers," said Boris Eifman.
He also
made a special mention of the scale of the RUSSIA EXPO.
"I am
very happy and very proud of the fact that we are participating in such an
event and are involved in the development of ballet. This is a very important
and very responsible mission. We are proud that, although we are only ten years
old, we are already at the forefront of contemporary Russian ballet,"
emphasized the choreographer.
Deputy
Director General of the ANO «Directorate of the Exhibition of Achievements
"Russia"» Anastasia Zvyagina took part in the official opening
ceremony.
"I
congratulate everyone on the beginning of spring and thank the authorities of
St. Petersburg, and you, Boris Yakovlevich, for the wonderful idea, for your
creativity and skill, for giving us the opportunity to enjoy truly beautiful
art," said Anastasia Zvyagina.
According
to her, the stand of the Northern Capital with all its activities has long
become not just a regional stand, but the most genuine point of attraction.
"We see how many people come specially to the stand of St. Petersburg for meetings and lectures, concerts and performances. And today, when our Exposition got a spring update - look how many colors are around! - St. Petersburg presents such a wonderful endeavor - Ballet Week. And it is symbolic that spring at St. Petersburg's stand begins with ballet, with a meeting with the maestro whose merits are recognized by the whole world. Ballet is an art form which, on the one hand, is light and airy, but on the other hand, requires incredible, enormous labor. Ballet, like spring, always gives the audience a sense of exaltation, takes them to the world of fantasies and dreams, just like spring," added Anastasia Zvyagina.
