The exposition opening took place at the "Future in Flowers" festival held at the open-air architectural and park ensemble of the VDNH. Alongside Pomorie, all 89 regions of Russia present their thematic flower compositions.

As Natalia Virtuozova, Director General of the RUSSIA EXPO, mentioned at the festival's opening, there are no analogs to such a massive flower festival.

"All 89 regions have presented their floral compositions, each through its natural and technological features and achievements. The most important thing is that we've created a real celebration of beauty. Another feature is the 'Future in Flowers' workshop, where the best varieties of flowers from all over the country will be brought," said Natalia Virtuozova.

The artistic concept of the Pomorie flower bed was developed by students of the Arkhangelsk Polytechnic College. According to the Deputy Director of the educational institution Angelika Afanasyeva, the concept includes a presentation of the main attractions that our region is famous for.

Symbolic model objects representing the leading industries of the Arkhangelsk region are placed around the perimeter of the flower bed. These include models of a modern ship, a submarine, an old sailing ship, a rocket, a wooden temple, a diamond, and Arctic ice.

"Thus, the composition reflects everything that the Pomorie region can rightfully be proud of: shipbuilding, wood processing, diamond mining, space exploration, and the development of the Arctic," explained Angelika Afanasyeva.

The flower bed is adorned exclusively with vegetation from the northern area: wild rose, moss, cranberries, petunias, and violets. These flora components symbolize the northern lights. In the center of the composition stands the tourist symbol of Pomorie — a multicolored bird of happiness made of flowers. The size of the flower bed is three meters in length and width.

The creation of the flower bed was undertaken by students of the Polytechnic College, who are studying in the specialty "Garden and Park Landscape Construction." The creation of the composition took two days. Now, Moscow residents and guests of the capital can enjoy the Pomorie presentation.

The exposition has received many admiring reviews from visitors. Vasilisa Volkova, a tour guide from Sochi originally from Severodvinsk, noted that the Pomorie flower bed stands out significantly against other regions.

"Today I am here with my mother. We stopped at the flower bed and were surprised at how wonderfully our native land is represented. The region has always stood out against others. The Arkhangelsk region is the cradle of shipbuilding, the home of the nuclear submarine fleet, the richness of wooden architecture — the wonderful museum 'Malye Korely.' There are many treasures that would probably be enough for more than one country. And the flower composition fully reflects all these merits," shared Vasilisa Volkova her opinion.

The flower festival at VDNH will continue until July 8, until the end of the RUSSIA EXPO. Let us remind you that the Exposition itself started on November 4, 2023, by the order of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
