Exclusive from the National Centre RUSSIA: PEOPLETALK editor-in-chief Ksenia Anosova on creating the future
On April 8,
the National Centre RUSSIA will host an expert program on architecture and
urban planning, bringing together leading Russian and international architects,
urbanists, designers, as well as representatives of the government and creative
industries to discuss the future of urban development.
One of the
key topics of the event will be the impact of fashion brands and cultural
initiatives on regional life. During an open discussion, organized in
collaboration with the digital publication PEOPLETALK, experts will explore how
local projects can shape a new urban environment and how cultural initiatives
and a sense of belonging to one's hometown can transform small cities and
inspire their development.
The
discussion will be moderated by PEOPLETALK editor-in-chief Ksenia Anosova, who
shared her perspective on current issues related to architecture and the cities
of the future.
"It is
important not only to talk about the future but to create it right now. The
process of 'resetting' cities and regions is not a matter of a single year, or
even a single decade in some cases. That is why the earlier we draw the
attention of young professionals to this issue, the sooner we will begin to
solve it. A vast cultural layer has been forgotten and devalued, and interest
in national identity, uniqueness, and artistic traditions has been lost. Only
now is all of this beginning to be revived. We have finally remembered the
value of our culture, history, and national creativity, and this is a wonderful
process that should be supported in every possible way," said Ksenia
Anosova.
Speaking
about the cities of the future, Ksenia Anosova emphasized the importance of
creating comfortable living conditions and infrastructure for all generations.
"In my
opinion, the cities of the future are those where people will actually want to
live. They will meet the standards and expectations of the new generation.
However, a city of the future is not necessarily a glass-and-concrete
metropolis. It can be a small historic town with its own traditions, habits,
and rhythm of life. But for comfort — one of the most essential qualities for
the new generation — we need infrastructure, roads, public transport, schools,
and healthcare facilities. We need jobs, culture, and sports. All of this must
be created today. And, of course, only through collective efforts can we
achieve real results," the discussion moderator stressed.
Ksenia Anosova
also noted the importance of making the event accessible to a wide audience.
"Personally,
I find the accessibility of this event especially important: anyone interested
can come and listen to influential experts in architecture, culture, and design.
Or they can do so from home via a live broadcast. It is incredibly valuable
that the National Centre RUSSIA provides us all with this opportunity.
Additionally, of course, the venue itself is impressive in its innovation and
scale," concluded Ksenia Anosova.
