New Year tree of the Pskov region: Pushkin’s lyrics and fairy-tale bas-reliefs
The decoration of the Pskov region’s New Year tree at VDNH features solid wood products — bas-reliefs and figures of fairy-tale characters, the magic bird Sirin and even a copy of the region’s coat of arms.
The decorators of the region also wanted to highlight the Pskov region as the ancestral home of the Pushkin family. Therefore, the decoration of the fir tree used landscapes of the Pushkin Mountains — the estates of Mikhailovsky, Trigorsky and Petrovsky.
And, of course, the fir tree was decorated with copies of Pushkin’s manuscripts — next year will mark the 225th anniversary of the poet’s birth. "I remember a wonderful moment… " — these world-famous lines of the poet were also written on the expanses of the Pskov region.
On the Main Alley of VDNH visitors are greeted by New Year fir trees, each representing a region of the country.
The RUSSIA EXPO is open from Tuesday to Sunday, Monday is a technical day. The most convenient time to visit is in the mornings and weekdays, but the exposition is open to everyone on weekends as well. All expositions and events are free of charge.
During the all-Russian survey "What does the Motherland begin with?", people across the country are answering this question in their own way, opening up the innermost corners of their souls.
Souvenir nevalyashkas (traditional Russian roly-poly dolls), are attracting particular attention, with guests choosing them for their harmonious combination of Russian colour and traditional Chinese symbols.
Under the guidance of artisans, each guest made an unusual souvenir that can become either a personal talisman or a gift with a special story.
