Christmas tree of North Ossetia-Alania: ritual bowls and ancient artifacts
The region’s spruce is decorated with the products of craftsmen from different parts of the republic. These are traditional vessels shaped like rams, horns for raising toasts, ritual beer bowls — it is customary for Ossetians to welcome all honorable guests coming to the republic with such a glass filled with frothy drink.
There are also exact copies of products from excavations, which are kept in the National Museum of Alania, such as dove-shaped vessels, characters of the Nart epic of the peoples of the North Caucasus.
Three pairs of dolls in traditional Ossetian outfits, as well as large garlands made in traditional ornaments also became decorations.
On the Main Alley of VDNH visitors are greeted by New Year fir trees, each of them representing a region of the country.
