Folk crafts and sound design: a new media project presented at the RUSSIA EXPO
The art
project "In the Name of Crafts. Immersive Chronicle of Traditions",
created with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, was
presented by the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts at the RUSSIA EXPO.
The series
of videos, shot in the style of video art, shows crafts of Russia in such
materials as wood, ceramics, textiles, metal, stone, glass, and bone. Highly artistic
filming, author's music and sound design create the effect of immersion in the
meditative process of creation.
"Last year the museum opened a large exposition of art crafts of Russia. The main concept of this exposition is to show crafts not as ethnographic artifacts, but as works of art, an aesthetic phenomenon of Russian culture. The media project is a continuation of the exposition and presents the whole process of creating these works, the beauty in the smallest details," said Natalia Strizhkova, head of the department of publishing activities and grant projects of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts.
