In the run-up to the New Year, the journey-style exposition "Book of Fairy Tales" opened at the National Centre RUSSIA. Among the first visitors were families with children, who were able to immerse themselves in an interactive journey through the pages of magical stories brought together from different parts of the country.

"To be among the first to follow such an amazing route feels like getting a ticket to the very best New Year fairy tale. Everything here is so thoughtfully designed and created with such care and attention that my boys completely forgot about their gadgets. They searched for the Firebird’s traces in the mysterious forest, helped fairytale characters, and left with shining eyes and countless questions about the Sage Cat and the Kaliningrad Homlins. And I caught myself thinking that I once again started to believe in miracles. Thank you to the organisers for such a wonderful gift ahead of the New Year," shared Svetlana from Moscow, a mother of two children.

The exposition also brought unexpected discoveries for many adult visitors.

"I came here with my granddaughter, and in the end found myself absorbed in reading the explanations at one of the stands. A fairy tale is not just fiction – it is the encoded experience of many generations of our people. And here this is shown brilliantly, through symbols, imagery and even traditional folk ornaments," said Igor Sergeyevich, a pensioner and former history teacher.

Even teenagers, who are hard to surprise in today’s technology-driven world, found their own highlights at the exposition.

"To be honest, at first I thought it would be boring – just books and puppets, nothing special. But it turned out you can, for example, bring images on the wall to life or even influence how the story unfolds, like in a computer game. It’s great that our culture can be presented in such a modern way. I even filmed a couple of stories here," admitted 15-year-old Matvei, who visited the exposition with his father and younger sister.

The large-scale journey-style exposition "Book of Fairy Tales" is dedicated to the legends, crafts and fairytale archetypes of Russian folk culture. Eight regions of Russia took part in creating the exposition – the Kaliningrad region, the Republic of Mordovia, the Vologda region, the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, the Republic of Karelia, the Stavropol region, the Ryazan region and the Republic of Komi.

The exposition will run until 1 March. Admission is free, but visits are available only as part of an organised group accompanied by a guide. If you arrive at the "Book of Fairy Tales" independently, please go to the information desk next to the Department Store on the second floor, where groups for organised visits are formed.
