Belarusian couple to marry at the III All-Russian Wedding Festival
A couple from the Republic of Belarus will take part in the III All-Russian Wedding Festival, "Russia. Uniting Hearts", where they will formalise their union alongside more than 100 couples from across Russia during a simultaneous wedding ceremony. The large-scale event will take place on 8 July, the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, at the National Centre RUSSIA in Moscow.
The Belarusian couple, Yegor Rusak and Yekaterina Kovalyova, see their wedding as an opportunity to bring together the traditions of two countries.
"We realised that a wedding is not just about two people. It is the energy that is created when many happy couples come together in one place. Getting married at the III All-Russian Wedding Festival means building a bridge between our countries. We want to combine Belarusian warmth and hospitality with the grand scale of Russian celebrations. And we are delighted that the National Centre RUSSIA is giving us this opportunity — to be here among so many bright, beautiful and loving couples," shared Yegor and Yekaterina.
The future newlyweds met by chance — they simply caught each other's eye in the street of their hometown. No names, no phone numbers, just a fleeting silhouette disappearing into the distance and a lingering sense that something important had happened. But Yegor found the mysterious young woman he liked so much — simply because his heart remembered her. It began with occasional messages, shared playlists and laughter over silly things. Then friendship became a home in which the young couple one day woke up with the thought: "This is forever."
Their shared passions include travelling, photography, sport, fishing and good food. Both families have a tradition of going out every autumn to harvest potatoes. Once the work is done, the potatoes are baked in their skins right there in the barn. Yegor and Yekaterina believe that the smell of smoke and freshly turned earth is their own unique "regional code".
On the first day of the festival at the National Centre RUSSIA, 8 July, the main event will be the simultaneous wedding ceremony bringing together couples from across the country. The celebration will also feature the transfer of the flame from the All-Russian Family Hearth, named "Heart of Russia". This symbolic particle of fire, brought from Murom, the city associated with Saints Peter and Fevronia, the patrons of marriage, will be transferred by couples who married at previous festivals to the newlyweds.
On the second day, 9 July, newlyweds, their guests and everyone interested in wedding traditions will have a chance to attend educational lectures, as well as a special gastronomic and musical programme.
The festival is organised by the National Centre RUSSIA in partnership with the Moscow Government and the Moscow Civil Registry Office.
