"Poignant and full of heart": National Centre RUSSIA to present the performance "Sisters"
On November 23, ahead of Mother's Day, the National Centre RUSSIA will host a musical-poetic performance, "Sisters," dedicated to heroes of the Special Military Operation (SMO). The show is based on genuine monologues of women whose stories are inspiring and deeply moving. The heroines are unique individuals, yet united by their will to achieve Victory, their ability to love, and their loyalty to the Motherland and family. The project is supported by the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives (PFCI).
The script for the documentary performance "Sisters" was written by wartime documentarian and a visionary behind the International Traveling Festival "Cinema in the Service of the Motherland," Olesya Shigina. The idea for the performance came about during filming at the front lines and in the rear, through conversations with soldiers and their families.
Instead of the director's name, the poster lists "Heavenly Light." This unique pseudonym is in tribute to a young volunteer who died near Kursk in August, with the callsign "Heavenly Light."
Music plays a significant role in the performance. Live music, performed by the actors, flows throughout the production, symbolizing life and light, which are especially crucial to remember in challenging times.
Renowned actress and director Olga Budina has already seen the performance and believes it is a must-see for everyone. The show appeals to both adults and children from the age of eight, helping young generations to better understand their country's history.
"This is a deeply moving performance, crafted with great heart and professionalism. I saw it myself, and I must say, people were giving a standing ovation at the end," shared Olga Budina.
According to the creators, "Sisters" aims to offer hope and assurance to those who wait. At the heart of the story are the women — mothers, wives, and sisters of heroes, capable of loving and hoping.
The National Centre RUSSIA was established by order of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to preserve the legacy of the International RUSSIA EXPO and to showcase the achievements of the country and its citizens on a permanent basis. Federal government agencies, state companies, corporations, and regions take part in the Centre’s work.
The first event at the National Centre RUSSIA was the International Symposium "Inventing the Future," which welcomed more than 6,000 guests from 101 countries.
