18.12.2023
On the Day of the Komi Republic at VDNH, December 19, it will be possible to get acquainted with the culture and history of the region, as well as to win a certificate for a flight to the seventh wonder of Russia - the mighty rock weathering pillars located on the territory of the Pechoro-Ilychsky Reserve.
You can get to these places only by helicopter, there are no settlements around for hundreds of kilometers. Translated from the Mansi language "Manpupuner" means "small mountain of idols". The Manpupuner pillars formed over millions of years as a result of weathering of the Ural Mountains, when the weak rocks surrounding them collapsed. There are 7 remnants on the plateau with height from 30 to 42 meters.
Numerous legends are connected with the stone pillars. For Mansi this place has long been considered sacred and it was forbidden to go here. In 2008, the Seven Weathering Pillars located on the Ural Ridge were officially recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of Russia.
