Penza region presented a unique project for special people
More than 11 million people with disabilities live in Russia. The Penza region has become one of the country's leaders in the development of inclusive practices and is ready to share its experience.
Five years ago, on the initiative of Maria Lvova-Belova, Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, the New Shores art estate was created in the region. This is an inclusive residence for those who have a particularly difficult time. Visually impaired people, wheelchair users, people with mental disabilities live here. They have found not only comfortable housing, but also opportunities for self-realization.
The founders expect that New Shores will become an alternative to morally obsolete psychoneurological dispensaries and boarding schools and a federal platform for the development of modern inclusive practices and technologies.
