The concept of the architectural exposition "The Birth of Scale" was presented at the National Centre RUSSIA
The National Centre RUSSIA has unveiled the concept of the new architectural exposition "The Birth of Scale." The exposition offers an extensive study of Russian architecture and urban planning, showcasing the evolution of construction from ancient Rus' buildings to modern megaprojects.
The name "The Birth of Scale" reflects how the bold vision of Russian architects has influenced global architecture throughout history, emphasized Natalia Virtuozova, Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA.
"The renowned project of the Palace of the Soviets could have become the largest structure in the world, and today it can be found in all architectural textbooks. Our exposition will be fascinating not only for adults but also for young visitors. As part of the exposition, children's workshops will be held where kids can imagine what buildings and cities of the future might look like," noted Natalia Virtuozova.
"The Birth of Scale" exposition is organized with the support of leading museums and private collectors who have provided unique exhibits. A significant contribution to the exposition was made by the State Research Museum of Architecture named after Alexei Viktorovich Shchusev, which provided unique models of structures from different eras, such as the model of the Sukharev Tower.
According to the chief curator of "The Birth of Scale" exposition, Andrei Chernikhov, it is filled with the labor and talent of many teams who worked together, just like the architects of the past.
"We see the works of our predecessors from the 1920s and 1960s. For them, time seemed to expand. Architects and builders lived in the future, felt themselves in the future. In 150 years, this future has come to us. Because the ideas you see, Russian skyscrapers of the 1920s, were realized only 30-40 years later. We also brought these projects to large-scale models and layouts for the first time. And we can see firsthand how talented and brilliant our country is, how remarkable the people who made the future into today were, and show this to the audience," said Andrei Chernikhov.
The exposition space is divided into several thematic modules, each of which reveals key stages in the development of architecture in Russia. Visitors can see models, video materials, installations, and rare projects that remained unrealized. Special attention is given to the interaction between architecture and art, as well as to the creative future: children's architectural workshops allow young guests to develop their own city projects.
Lectures, master classes, and tours are held as part of the exposition, introducing guests to design processes, construction technologies, and innovations in architecture.
"The Birth of Scale" exposition is open to all visitors for free. Additional information and registration for tours are available on the russia.ru website.
