The National Centre RUSSIA to host a talk on the country’s ancient rock art
The National Centre RUSSIA invites visitors to a special
event on 19 June dedicated to the unique rock art monuments preserved across
the country. Guests will learn about ancient cave paintings, petroglyphs, and
rock inscriptions created in different eras, from the Stone Age to ethnographic
modernity.
The event will be hosted by Stanislav Drobyshevsky,
Candidate of Biological Sciences, anthropologist, Associate Professor at
Lomonosov Moscow State University, co-founder of the Anthropogenesis.ru portal,
and founder of the public science popularisation movement named Drobyshevsky's
Projects.
The featured speaker will be Yelena Levanova, Candidate of
Historical Sciences, Head of the Centre for Paleoart at the Institute of
Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Associate Professor at the Yuri
Knorozov Mesoamerican Centre of the Russian State University for the
Humanities, and lecturer with the Drobyshevsky's Projects science
popularisation movement.
Participants will discover where Russia's most significant
rock art sites are located, what ancient images can reveal about the lives of
people in the past, and the role these monuments play in the country's cultural
legacy.
Guest registration will begin at 18:00. Registration is
available on the National Centre RUSSIA website in the "Events"
section.
The organiser reserves the right to restrict access to the
event once the maximum venue capacity has been reached.
