The head of the Experimental Projects Department and Youth Competitions Division of Geoscan Group informed guests about one of the youngest and most promising sectors of domestic industry.

Geoscan is known as a pioneer in Russian unmanned aviation, having been in the market for over 13 years. On June 18, at the "Made by Us" pavilion of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Margarita Bakustina, Head of the Experimental Projects Department and Youth Competitions Division of Geoscan Group, discussed one of the youngest and most promising sectors of domestic industry.

"Manufacturing and operating unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is one of the most high-tech fields. For a UAV to fly, it requires the efforts of design engineers, radio-electronic equipment developers, software and hardware testing engineers, high-level programmers who write the control system, embedded systems and microprocessor programmers, ground control station developers, process engineers, assemblers, packers, and highly skilled mechanics. And this is far from a complete list," Margarita Bakustina emphasized during the lecture.

Geoscan produces various types of UAVs from scratch - developing the software, having a design bureau, production facilities and training centers.

This new sector is in dire need of specialists, which is understandable: 15-20 years ago, there were no training programs for them, and even now, one has to learn on the job due to the rapid development of technology.

"To attract young specialists, we organize engineering competitions. They take place in various formats and can involve a wide range of participants - from adult professionals already working in our field to students and schoolchildren," Margarita Bakustina explained. She added that some competitions have become popular and attract many participants, such as the "Cyberdrome" competitions held with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.

During her speech, Margarita Bakustina repeatedly emphasized the enormous prospects of the industry. The demand for UAVs is constantly growing. In addition to the most obvious and well-known fields such as military and media, UAVs are increasingly in demand in industry, agriculture, geodesy, land use, power engineering and the gas industry.
