Exploring Iranian culture: illustrations for the epic "Shahnameh" at the exposition "Legacy for the Future"
The
exposition "Legacy for the Future" is a unique chance to enjoy art
and discover the cultures of various countries. The event features works by
creators from Russia, China, India, Iran, Brazil, and Ethiopia. The works of
Fatimeh Juiban, a graduate of the Tabriz University of Islamic Art, help to
learn more about to Iranian history and the renowned epic "Shahnameh"
("The Book of Kings").
Fatimeh
Juiban created the painting "The Camel Hunt of Bahram Gur and
Azadeh." This work is an authorial reproduction of one of the
illustrations for the Iranian epic "Shahnameh" and serves as a
striking example of the celebrated Persian miniature tradition. The hunt
depicted in the illustration portrays just one episode from the expansive epic. "The Book of Kings", written by the Iranian poet Ferdowsi at the end of the 10th
century CE, comprises fifty thousand eleven-syllable couplets and recounts the
reigns of fifty Iranian kings. This masterpiece holds immense cultural
significance and exceptional moral value.
It is
remarkable that the book is written in such simple and clear poetic language
that contemporary readers in Iran and Tajikistan can easily understand it and
find it relevant to the modern world.
At the
exposition, artist Fatimeh Juiban has presented three works. In addition to
"The Camel Hunt of Bahram Gur and Azadeh," visitors can admire the
paintings" Shabikhon: A Nighttime Attack Without Warning" and
"The Gardener in Imagination." All of them are created in a unified
style using gouache, watercolor, and gold leaf.
In the
