The festival of ice sculptures, which started this winter at the RUSSIA EXPO, will continue in St. Petersburg with the KronshIce Festival. The event will be held in the Peter and Paul Fortress from March 8 to 17 - the dates are traditionally timed to coincide with the Maslenitsa week.

The festival participants presented the life of the city on the Neva, its development, future through a new tourist geography, different types of tourism. In their works the craftsmen reflected a happy family that flew to the Northern Capital, sports tourists at the Gazprom Arena, participants of the largest SUP festival in the world, a romantic date in a restaurant with a view.

According to Alexander Beglov, the Governor of the Northern Capital, sculptors also presented in ice carvings the achievements of the city, which are now on display at the RUSSIA EXPO.

"One of the main themes of the festival was the Year of the Family announced by the President of Russia. It is especially important for St. Petersburg: tourists traveling with their families accounted for more than 53% of the total tourist flow last year. The KronshIce Festival will become a bright event in the cultural life of St. Petersburg, will attract tourists who came to our city during these festive days," emphasized Governor Alexander Beglov.

More than 20 sculptors from Russia and Kazakhstan participate in the festival. They have created 14 works, which are located in a special tent that maintains the necessary temperature and humidity. To prepare the exposition 200 tons of pure river ice were delivered from the Perm region.

During the days of the festival there will be events devoted to gastronomic tourism. On March 17, large-scale Maslenitsa festivities will take place in the Peter and Paul Fortress. Masterclasses on cooking pancakes, round dances, folk games and much more will be organized. A 500-kilogram pancake pie will be baked for the guests of the holiday.
