Launch of the All-Russian Youth Theater Festival "Place of Power — Vladivostok" was announced at the Exposition

The presentation of the All-Russian Youth Theater Festival "Place of Power — Vladivostok" was held at the International RUSSIA EXPO. This new project was established with the support of the Primorye region Government, so its launch was announced during the Regional Development Days of the Far Eastern and Northern (Arctic) Macroregions at VDNH.

From July 21 to July 25, 2024 the festival will bring together the leading theaters of Moscow, St. Petersburg and new regions of the Russian Federation in the Youth Capital of Russia — Vladivostok, as well as young specialists of creative professions, for whom classes will be organized in author's laboratories under the guidance of maestros of theatrical art.

The launch of the All-Russian Youth Theater Festival "Place of Power — Vladivostok" was solemnly announced by Oleg Kozhemyako, Governor of the Primorye region.

"For several years Vladivostok has been heading towards becoming the Youth Capital of Russia. In 2024 it has succeeded! This is really a city of young people, and guests here are very fond of it. Today we announce the launch of a new all-Russian Theater Festival "Place of Power — Vladivostok", which will unite stage professionals and young specialists of creative professions. Unforgettable summer days in the Far East, filled with events, emotions and new discoveries, are waiting for the participants. Vladivostok is also the city of the future, where young people will be able to realize their abilities and talents, create families, live and work comfortably for the people and the country," said Oleg Kozhemyako.

Famous figures of culture and art of Russia gave their words of encouragement to the participants of the project: Vladimir Pankov, artistic director of the theater "Center for Dramaturgy and Directing", Kirill Krok, director of the Evgeny Vakhtangov Theater, Marina Brusnikina, director of the Russian Academic Youth Theater, Olga Egoshina, professor of the Moscow Art Theater School, theater critic, Borislav Volodin, head of the National Open Championship of creative competencies ArtMasters, and Pyotr Dranga, musician.

"Participants of the creative laboratory that I will conduct at the festival for young directors, composers and musicians will work in teams and will eventually create a new performance based on a given work. Which one? We'll keep it a secret for now, to keep a sense of spontaneity, it's important both in human relationships and in music," believes Vladimir Pankov, founder of the SounDrama studio.

"We are engaged in such a profession, which is passed from hand to hand, from person to person. The Moscow Art Theatre Studio School has much to share. We have a strong base of classical education, and we own many new techniques that are used in modern theater. A laboratory is, above all, a contact with other people, another way of transmitting material. It always enriches, makes you compare, makes you think and choose your path," said Marina Brusnikina, a teacher at the Moscow Art Theater School.

"The country is now experiencing a favorable environment for the popularization of symphonic music and serious musical forms. Russian young people themselves are drawn to this, which is becoming a trend. We will bring amazing and unique projects to the festival, which involve actors Evgeny Tsyganov and Yulia Snigir. Vladivostok has been a center of cultural and progressive youth for many years, which means that the festival will be held at a very high level. For our part, we will do our best to make it happen. Young people will remember this event, it will help them to look at the world with different eyes, will contribute to professional and spiritual growth," noted musician Pyotr Dranga.

Residents of the Art-Cluster "Tavrida" — the popular duet NANSI & SIDOROV — and Art Force Crew show-ballet Artem Glotov performed for the participants and guests of the presentation.

The All-Russian Youth Theater Festival "Place of Power — Vladivostok" is supported by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh), the Russian Society "Knowledge", the Evgeny Vakhtangov State Academic Theater, the Russian Institute of Theater Art — GITIS, the Moscow Art Theater Studio School, the Art Cluster "Tavrida", the project "Biennale of Theater Art. Lessons in Directing", Vakhtangov Festival of Theater Managers. The project is headed by Dmitry Bikbaev (Moscow), director, producer, head of the open theater space "Art Platform" in the New Manege.

The State Academic Mossovet Theater, the Center for Dramaturgy and Directing Theater, the creative team of musician Pyotr Dranga, the Art Platform Open Theater Space (all from Moscow), the Tsekh Theater and Theater Project 27 (St. Petersburg), the Donetsk Republican Academic Youth Theater (Donetsk People's Republic) are expected to come on tour to Vladivostok as part of the festival. The audience will be able to see famous Russian directors and actors Vladimir Mashkov, Evgeny Tsyganov, Yulia Snigir, Alexander Yatsko, Anastasia Makeeva.

The performances will be held from July 22 to 24 at the best venues of Vladivostok: Mariinsky Theatre, Primorsky Theatre of Youth, Primorsky Regional Philharmonic Society, Pushkin Theatre of FEFU.

In addition to theatrical screenings, an extensive educational program is planned. Leading theater artists of Russia will open their creative laboratories for young professionals in the field of culture and art from 18 to 35 years old. You can apply until June 15 on the festival's website. Recruitment of participants will be held on a competitive basis. Attendance to all classes is free of charge.

For young directors, composers and musicians there will be a laboratory of Vladimir Pankov, Merited Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, artistic director of the theater "Center for Dramaturgy and Directing", founder of the SounDrama studio. Artists are invited by the laboratory of the Moscow Art Theatre School under the curatorship of Marina Brusnikina, chief director of the Russian Academic Youth Theater, Merited Artist of the Russian Federation. Critics and journalists will gather at the laboratory headed by Grigory Zaslavsky, rector of the Russian Institute of Theatrical Art — GITIS, Merited Artist of the Russian Federation. Managers in the sphere of culture and art will be able to take part in the business program of the Vakhtangov Festival of Theatre Managers, which will be held for the first time in the Far East. Kirill Krok, director of the Evgeny Vakhtangov Theatre, Merited Cultural Worker of the Russian Federation, Merited Art Worker of the Russian Federation, will be the curator of this area. A workshop for employees of the artistic and production part of theaters will be held by Alexander Solomin, technical director of the largest cultural events in Moscow. Another workshop will be devoted to media content creation: it is intended for smm-specialists, photographers and videographers. 

Employees of cultural institutions, students and teachers of creative universities of the Far Eastern Federal District will be able to attend the creative laboratories without age limit.

Over 15 thousand people are expected to take part in the All-Russian Youth Theater Festival "Place of Power — Vladivostok". It will become the central event of a large cultural and educational project of the same name, which also includes field workshops for cultural workers of the Far Eastern Federal District in Moscow.
