Events followed by the whole world: The Sky movie was presented at the Exposition
The Sky movie, dedicated to the heroic deed of Russian pilots in Syria in 2015, was presented at the RUSSIA EXPO by the film's director Igor Kopylov. The Su-24, piloted by military pilot Oleg Peshkov and navigator Konstantin Murakhtin, was hit by a Turkish fighter jet in the jihadists' control zone in northern Syria. The search operation to rescue the military was followed by all the world's media.
The movie
became the first feature film about the operation of the Russian Armed Forces
in Syria, as well as the first motion picture about a modern Hero of Russia.
"I'll
tell you a little secret: we shot some of the Syrian scenes both in Syria and
in Crimea. We filmed in Crimea not because we were too lazy to go to Syria, but
because the place where the plane crashed is very similar to Crimea", -
said the film's director Igor Kopylov.
The
director added that initially they wanted to shoot the film only on the
territory of Crimea.
"We planned to build a military town, but the pandemic began and the military did not have time for us - they built hospitals and saved people. Therefore, all location shooting was in the Crimea, and those shots where you can see the military camp, were made in Syria. We came to the Hmeimim base and filmed everything there", - Igor Kopylov added.
