The ATOM pavilion will host the Scientific Parterre Festival
From April
26 to 28, guests of the ATOM pavilion will be able to see unique theatrical
performances, attend public talks with scientists and art classes. Also, a
specially recorded audio tour-promenade will be available for everyone.
Entrance to the Science Parterre Festival is free, some events require
pre-registration. The detailed program is available on the pavilion's website.
The Science
Parterre Festival will unite science, technology and art. For the first time in
the ATOM pavilion, it will be possible to see science-drama - reading of plays
related to scientific discoveries, inventions and new technologies, in the
preparation of which both professional actors of the Eighth Platform Theater
and scientists and science communicators participated.
Guests will
be presented with an audiovisual production in three parts. Each performance
has an independent plot, so it is possible to attend all three performances or
choose any one of them. The production will tell about the importance of energy
in general and the atom in particular. The spectators will be able to learn a
lot of interesting things about the scientific achievements of the XX century
and form their own opinion about them. The performances will be held in the
conference hall of the pavilion on April 26, 27 and 28, beginning at 19:00.
A series of
festival lectures and public talks will reveal the concept of "atom"
through the lens of various spheres of life. Thus, biologist Timur Chernov will
tell about atoms-"stickers", which help to find cancer cells in the
body and even to establish the authenticity of works of art. Physicist Sergei
Merts will talk on why particle accelerator is hidden under the Louvre and why
ions are called the scalpel of the XXI century. Architectural historian Maria
Nikitina will invite you to explore the problems of typical buildings and the
identity of cities built near nuclear power plants.
At the art
class the festival guests will be able to try themselves as research artists.
The participants will discover the phenomenon of the "Black Square"
and realize it as an initial element, a point of reference for the art of the
XX century. The art class "To Square It Up" will take place on
Saturday, April 27. It will start at 12:00. And on Sunday at the masterclass
"EngiArt" it will be possible to study the principles used in the
work of engineer Vladimir Shukhov and try them out when creating a collage. All
materials for art - from primed canvases to neon garlands - are free of charge.
It starts at 13:00. Pre-registration is required to attend.
On April 28
at 11:30, children from seven years old are welcome to attend the storytelling
lecture "Alice in Wonderland: Atom Version." This classic story is
beloved by mathematicians, philosophers, and even cyberneticians. At the
Science Parterre Festival, the tale of Alice will allow audiences of all ages
to understand what an atom is. A neural network will help to color and
illustrate the Wonderland adventure. The lecture-tale and art classes will be
held by Varvara Lyubova, creative director of the "Through the Eyes of an
Engineer" company, art historian and artist.
An audio
tour-promenade and a three-part musical composition were recorded specially for
the festival. You can listen to them on the way to the ATOM pavilion or just on
a walk around VDNH. Industrial noises and nervous pulsations symbolize the
feeling of anxiety from the first human encounter with the atomic subject. But
the physics of elementary particles fascinates and opens incredible
perspectives, so the audio accompaniment changes - an ode to the "peaceful
atom" sounds in the rhythm of an easy walk with the use of space and
hi-tech sounds.
The hero of
the audio tour is Vladimir Reshetov, Professor of MIPT and MEPhI, Doctor of
Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Composers: Karen Kazakov and Tikhon
Filatov. The audio promenade will be available to everyone via links posted on
the ATOM website and in the pavilion's social networks.
The
festival partner is the creative bureau "Through the Eyes of anEngineer".
The first event to be held at the Russia National Centre, which is being established by the order of President Vladimir Putin, will be the International Science Fiction Symposium and Exhibition "Inventing the Future". The symposium will take place from November 4 to 6.
Tomorrow, the International RUSSIA EXPO will conclude its work. From November 2023 to July 2024, it was visited by more than 18 million guests.
Every day, for eight months, the RUSSIA EXPO delighted guests and gave unforgettable emotions.
