Pancake Festival and "Sister-in-law’s Gatherings": the Maslenitsa Week continues at the RUSSIA EXPO
On March 16, guests of the RUSSIA EXPO can taste several
types of pancakes and take part in traditional Russian amusements. Throughout
the day in front of Pavilion B "Prirodograd" guests will be treated
to fresh pancakes and entertained with tug-of-war, ribbon carousel, round dances,
game of gorodki and ring toss.
Also, at the arch of the Main Entrance to VDNH guests can
join the Maslenitsa procession, the main characters of which will be
"Maidens in kokoshniks". They will lead the procession and call the
guests. They will be assisted by stilt walkers, jugglers, stunt performers,
musicians and animators with tambourines in designer costumes. The final chord
of the street procession will be a theatrical performance on the Main Street
Stage, which will tell about the omens, traditions and rituals of this day.
The days of the Maslenitsa Festival continue in the House of
Russian Cuisine. Saturday is devoted to pancakes of the regions of Russia. On
this day everyone will be able to get acquainted with the recipes of pancakes
of the Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Rostov regions and the Udmurt Republic.
Maslenitsa amusements are organized on the square in front
of the Exposition's Main Street Stage: Vareniki Fights, Catch a Pancake,
Cornhole, Maslenitsa Mosaic, Broomball, Ringball. There are also thematic photo
zones for visitors.
There will also be a concert "Great Maslenitsa" on
the Main Street Stage at 13:00. The program includes thematic games, round
dances, performance of Marina Devyatova, ensemble "Yarmarka",
folklore groups of MGIK and Moscow. The cross-cutting action of the concert
will be the search for ingredients for the best pancakes in Russia. At 17:00
there will be a performance "Sister-in-law's Gatherings" by Theater
"O" based on the famous work by P. Ershov with a lively and incredible
atmosphere.
In turn, at 14:00 Pavilion No. 75 will host a concert of the
ensemble "Cossacks.ru": "Maslenitsa has arrived - open the gates
wide!".
At 17:35 on the Main Street Stage there will be a
performance of the Russian-style show band "Zlatitsa". Folk songs in
a modern reading, bright emotions and good mood are waiting for the guests!
The first event to be held at the Russia National Centre, which is being established by the order of President Vladimir Putin, will be the International Science Fiction Symposium and Exhibition "Inventing the Future". The symposium will take place from November 4 to 6.
Tomorrow, the International RUSSIA EXPO will conclude its work. From November 2023 to July 2024, it was visited by more than 18 million guests.
