The secret to a long career: an engineer with 75 years in shipbuilding explained how to maintain a passion for the job
Taisiya Ryabinina, a Category I Engineer at NRC "Kurchatov Institute" — CRISM "Prometey", has devoted 75 years to shipbuilding. At the thematic meeting "Motherland Is Service. Technological Independence" at the National Centre RUSSIA, she explained what keeps her interested in her profession and what matters for those just beginning their careers.
According to Taisiya Ryabinina, the main secret to her long career is a constant desire to learn. She also draws inspiration from the results of her work: developments are put to use in production, scientific research and regulatory documentation.
"My secret is the desire to learn new things, love my profession and put it into practice. What we achieve is applied directly in production, research and the regulatory framework. This inspires me and encourages me to keep learning about and introducing new manufacturing processes," Taisiya Ryabinina said.
The engineer advised young specialists to develop a love for their profession while still studying and choose a field they truly enjoy. In her view, the most important thing is to go beyond theory: knowledge gained at university or college should be put into practice in production as early as possible, alongside learning from experienced colleagues.
"Knowledge gained at universities and colleges needs to be applied directly in production. You need to study the equipment and talk to specialists with extensive experience. You must come to love your profession, follow the right path, stay focused on your chosen field and always connect science with practice," Taisiya Ryabinina emphasised. She added that this approach enables people to contribute to their country, which, for an engineer, is what true service means.
