The Beloomut hydroelectric complex on the Oka River is located near Kolomna in the Moscow region. 100 years ago it connected the Moskva River with the Volga River and strengthened trade ties with Nizhny Novgorod, one of the largest trade and industrial centers of the Russian Empire.

A century later, thanks to the Inland Waterways federal project, a new channel dam was built. Wooden structures were replaced by structures made of metal and reinforced concrete. Large-scale reconstruction of the hydroelectric complex in 2015-2020 allowed to do without heavy manual work when regulating water levels. The navigation situation between the Beloomut and Severka hydrosystems has improved.

Special vessels of the technical fleet - dredgers - were used for dredging and bottom cleaning. You can see their models at VDNH, at the exposition Russia in Motion. By the way, here you can also get acquainted with the newest vessels of the Russian fleet - from icebreakers to rescue ships.

Don't forget to use an unusual solar-powered navigation lantern - this is also a novelty.
