Thousands of people took part in folk festivities with "Roundelays of Russia" at the RUSSIA EXPO
Mass folk festivities with spring folk songs and traditional Russian round dances were held at the RUSSIA EXPO. The artists dressed in old ethnographic costumes of different regions of Russia introduced the guests of the RUSSIA EXPO to ornamental and playful round dances: "The Man Plowed the Vegetable Garden", "I'll Start a Crooked Dance", "Vasya-vasilechek", "On the Mountain There is a Guelder Rose", "Jackdaws Came to Us", "And We Sowed Flax", "Along the Sea", "Weave Wattle".
The event is co-organized with the festival movement "Roundelays of Russia". The movement unites people in a round dance in all their national, cultural and worldview diversity. The mission of the "Roundelays of Russia" is to revive the round dance culture in our country as a symbol of unity of the Russian people and friendship. The movement was represented at the Exposition by the Moscow city creative collective folklore ensemble "Ros" and the folk song ensemble "Pervotsvet" of the Prokofiev MSMC.
"Our movement is already eight years old. Since 2016 we have been organizing folk festivals across Russia — such festivals have already taken place in 120 cities and towns across the country. Today at the RUSSIA EXPO our movement is represented by a united team consisting of artists of the folklore ensemble 'Ros' and folk song ensemble 'Pervotsvet'," said Svetlana Zhizhina, the regional head of the festival movement "Roundelays of Russia" in Moscow and Moscow region.
According to Svetlana Zhizhina, in their performance the artists sought to show the Exposition's visitors all the diversity of our country.
"We set a task to introduce the guests of the Exposition to round dances from many Russian regions. This is very important, because the Exposition shows all the beauty and power of our country. We do the same, only through songs, the history of our country and the cultural code that our ancestors carried," emphasized Svetlana Zhizhina.
