A family story with deep meaning: why a wedding on July 8 will be special

A family story with deep meaning: why a wedding on July 8 will be special
07.03.2025

July 8 in Russia is not just a date on the calendar, but a special day for those who want to fill their family life with traditional values and spiritual harmony. By getting married on Family, Love, and Fidelity Day — including at the II All-Russian Wedding Festival "Russia. Uniting Hearts," timed to coincide with this celebration — couples emphasise the conscious nature of their choice and connect their personal happiness with the centuries-old history of their native country.

The II All-Russian Wedding Festival "Russia. Uniting Hearts" will open at the National Centre RUSSIA on July 8, on Family, Love, and Fidelity Day, and will continue the traditions of the I All-Russian Wedding Festival, which took place in 2024 at the International RUSSIA EXPO.

The blessing of Saints Peter and Fevronia

The celebration of Family, Love, and Fidelity was officially established in Russia in honour of the Orthodox patrons of the family — the blessed Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia of Murom. Their marriage, which lasted for decades, became a symbol of devotion, wisdom and the ability to overcome any trials together. It is believed that a marriage concluded on this day receives special blessing.

Daisies as a symbol of purity and fidelity

Family, Love, and Fidelity Day is traditionally accompanied by wild flowers, especially daisies, which embody the sincerity of feelings and the strength of family bonds. Many couples include them in their wedding ceremony decorations, add them to bridal bouquets and even make engravings on wedding rings, emphasising their intention to be faithful, loving, and caring spouses.

A talisman date

A wedding on this day becomes a true family talisman: every year on July 8, couples can celebrate not only the anniversary of the official registration of their relationship, but also a nationwide celebration filled with special meaning and symbolising the unity of tradition and modernity. Festivals, concerts and other events take place throughout the country, creating an atmosphere of celebration for representatives of all generations. By choosing July 8 for your wedding, you become part of a large-scale love story that unites millions of families across Russia.

As part of the II All-Russian Wedding Festival "Russia. Uniting Hearts" at the National Centre RUSSIA on this day, more than 200 couples from different regions of the country will simultaneously say "I do." Participants and guests of the II All-Russian Wedding Festival "Russia. Uniting Hearts" can expect a rich three-day programme: ceremonial weddings, festive processions, thematic lectures and public talks, workshops, meetings with celebrities and much more.
