The National Centre RUSSIA was opened in Khanty-Mansiysk on 16 December 2025, and it is one of the first five regional branches of the National Centre RUSSIA in the country. It is being created on the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, as part of a federal initiative to develop regional cultural centres.
The Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area — Yugra is the energy heart of Russia. It is a place where unique nature, the careful preservation of centuries-old traditions of the indigenous peoples, industrial strength and a bold vision of the future come together. The symbol of the National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra is the loon bird — a sacred image for the indigenous peoples of the North. According to legend, the loon dived to the bottom of the primordial ocean and brought back a beakful of earth, from which land was formed.
The
National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra is a modern cultural and exposition complex.
Its exposition forms a holistic view of Yugra’s nature, history, people,
culture, and development prospects. Visitors can explore the Hall of the
History of the Yugra Land "Pride Through Time", the "Dialogue of
Nature and Humanity" space, which demonstrates the beauty and richness of
the region’s natural world, the "Hearth of Legends" hall, which
reveals the distinct identity of the indigenous peoples of the North, as well
as the "Pride of the Future" exposition showcasing the current state
and development prospects of each municipality of the autonomous area. The
permanent exposition is complemented by a temporary exhibition hall, which will
host displays dedicated to significant events, dates and achievements, changing
on a regular basis.
Introductory hall "Immersion into Yugra"
This
exposition introduces visitors to the key features of the region: its nature,
culture, and 22 municipalities. The space creates a first impression of Yugra —
a region of strong traditions, rich nature, and modern ideas.
Hall "Oil. Triumph"
This
exposition is dedicated to the history of the development of Yugra’s oil and
gas industry. Installations and multimedia technologies tell the story of
prospecting, the construction of cities and the region’s role in Russia’s
energy sector.
Cinema Hall
In the
auditorium, styled as the cabin of a modern aircraft, visitors can enjoy the
virtual "Flight Over Yugra" — an opportunity to admire the region’s
nature and landmarks from above.
