Primorye and the Mogilev region of Belarus strengthen business ties
The Primorye branch of the National Centre RUSSIA hosted a conference bringing together business and government representatives of the Primorye region and the Mogilev region of the Republic of Belarus. The participants discussed prospects for developing trade relations and joint industrial projects.
"We have a unique opportunity today to discuss business cooperation between manufacturers of the Republic of Belarus and our regional trade enterprises and other sectors that are ready to purchase Belarusian products through direct supply contracts, ensuring the most affordable prices for all residents of Primorye. This is exactly the goal set by the governors of the Primorye region and the Mogilev region," said Minister of Industry and Trade of the Primorye region Sergei Kalitin.
He emphasised that trade turnover between Primorye and Belarus has increased many times over in recent years, which reflects a high level of trust and strong demand for Belarusian products.
"There is no need to promote Belarusian products on the local market — they have already earned a reputation for quality, affordability, and consumer appeal," added the Minister.
President of the Primorye Chamber of Commerce and Industry Boris Stupnitsky reminded participants that economic cooperation between Primorye and Belarus has deep historical roots.
"The first agreement between the Primorye region and the Republic of Belarus was signed back in 1998. The economic agenda was largely similar to today’s — food industry, mechanical engineering, and industrial cooperation. And today we see this dialogue gaining new momentum," said Boris Stupnitsky.
He noted that thanks to the efforts of the regional leadership, cooperation between the parties has become systematic and sustainable in recent years. In 2024 alone, trade turnover reached 26 billion roubles, with more than four billion accounted for by Belarusian food products.
"The main goal of today’s conference is to move towards direct contracts between companies and to expand the range of supplied goods. We see potential in developing trading houses, distribution networks, and joint ventures. A competitive environment and mutual trust form the basis of successful economic cooperation," emphasised the President of the regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The conference at the Primorye branch of the National Centre RUSSIA became another step towards strengthening the partnership between Primorye and Belarus. It will not only help to increase trade turnover but also open up new areas of economic cooperation, contributing to the development of both regions and to stronger ties between Russia and Belarus.
