Volunteers work in hospitals discussed at the "Patriots of the Urals" forum
At the
National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra, a thematic session on volunteer work in hospital
missions was held as part of the 5th Forum of volunteers and civic activists
"Patriots of the Urals". The session was moderated by the Head of the
Volunteer Headquarters of the ANO "Humanitarian Volunteer Corps" and
crisis psychologist Svetlana Basova.
"Volunteer
work in the context of the special military operation has its roots in earlier
experience. People who initially helped respond to emergencies and supported
those in difficult situations are now working side by side with the wounded and
with the families of participants of the special military operation. This is
also reflected in our volunteer associations: we see how the engagement of
individuals transforms the entire support system — at all levels, from civic
initiatives to the work of state and municipal structures," said Svetlana
Basova.
The first
session focused on practical experience in hospitals — from organising missions
to cooperation with medical and military structures. Heads of hospital missions
Galina Krylova and Maya Yesina spoke about how volunteer work is organised and
how the project "Dobrosluzhashchiy" ("Kind Serviceman")
helps structure assistance in a systematic way.
A
representative of the Southern Military District, Derenik Temirkhanov, spoke
about cooperation between the volunteer corps and military units. Deputy Head
of the Main Military Medical Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Russia,
Major General of the Medical Service Oleg Kalachev, outlined how cooperation
with volunteers is organised in practice.
Particular
attention was given to personal stories. Volunteer Yelena Palshina shared the
experience of medical professionals from the Tyumen region taking part in
missions, while Viktoria Dzhepko, a student of Sovetsky College, spoke about
her five rotations and her motivation to continue this work. Rector of Surgut
State Pedagogical University Vladislav Zasypkin presented the experience of
engaging students and academic staff in humanitarian missions.
"The
'Dobrosluzhashchiy' project is simple and clear: officials and employees at
different levels join missions and become ordinary volunteers. This is service
to people and the highest value. For me, my entire previous professional career
was preparation for this work. There are many people who genuinely help: some
go on missions, some remain in their positions, others send support to
hospitals every month. Volunteering is an opportunity to do good with your own
hands, to share warmth and experience, and to support those who defend our
country," said the speaker, Head of the hospital mission in Rostov, Maya
Yesina.
In the
second half of the day, the session will continue: participants will learn
about the principles of the ANO "Humanitarian Volunteer Corps",
discuss cooperation between volunteering and business, and review how to join a
humanitarian mission — from submitting an application to on-site support.
The
programme will conclude with an open dialogue with participants of the special
military operation and experts, where attendees will be able to ask questions
and discuss practical aspects of the work.
