Path of champions: Roman Kostomarov and Oksana Domnina meet with youth at the National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra
A
motivating and inspiring meeting took place on the opening day of the National
Centre RUSSIA in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area — Yugra. In an open dialogue
format, Olympic champion, two-time world champion, three-time European champion
Roman Kostomarov, and Olympic bronze medallist, world figure skating champion,
Honoured Master of Sports of Russia, Oksana Domnina, shared their success stories
with the audience. The event was organised by the Russian society Znanie.
The
athletes spoke about the qualities and psychological mindsets that help
cultivate a true champion's character, strengthen willpower, and mobilise inner
reserves to overcome numerous challenges in sport and life.
"It's
wonderful that people will have an opportunity to come here, to enlighten
themselves, to get educated, to gain new knowledge and a wonderful mood. The
National Centres are created to unite people. They are the places that as many
people as possible should visit," said Oksana Domnina.
The speakers also emphasised that an athlete's
primary motivation is family, because it is loved ones who provide the reliable
home front and unconditional support necessary in the most difficult moments,
becoming a source of inspiration and strength on the path to the pinnacle of
sporting excellence.
"The
meeting was amazing, very heartfelt; we shared our achievements in our sports
careers and talked about life," said Roman Kostomarov.
The
residents of Yugra listened to the lecturers with great interest, actively
asked questions, and sought advice on figure skating from the renowned
athletes. Roman Kostomarov and Oksana Domnina noted that professional sport is
an immense labour into which one must put all their effort, and if you truly
love it and work persistently, results will follow.

soft skills — are held in every region of the Russian Federation. Each federal
subject can launch the initiative that is most important for its residents.
During the lectures, young people can ask questions to experts and discuss current
issues.
