The symbol of the National Centre RUSSIA branch in the Krasnoyarsk region became fish as an image of harmony and Siberian strength
A branch of the National Centre RUSSIA is being prepared for opening in Krasnoyarsk. Its symbol will be two fish forming a circle, resembling the Siberian grayling that inhabits the Yenisei River.
The fish scales consist of elements of the Orkhon-Yenisei runic script — the oldest writing system spread across present-day Siberia — as well as Old Slavic initials. The visual motif itself resembles the yin-yang symbol, representing harmony and the union of two opposites.
The choice of this image is not accidental. Krasnoyarsk is located in the very heart of Siberia — a region where different natural, climatic, and cultural elements combine. Here, people live under a sharply continental climate, where temperatures can change dramatically within just a few days — this demands flexibility and the ability to find balance from the Siberian person.
The region itself lies on the Yenisei River — the most full-flowing river in Russia. The image of fish also refers to water, continuous flow, and deep power that nourishes and connects territories. In Siberian legends, the Yenisei often appears as a "father," a majestic, white-haired, and wise elder who carries calm strength — as he was presented at the Krasnoyarsk region stand at the RUSSIA EXPO. Hence the choice of the distinctive colour for the National Centre branch in Krasnoyarsk — a rich deep blue. It not only emphasises the depth of the Yenisei as a geographical feature but also embodies the inner strength and wisdom traditionally associated with the river in the region’s cultural memory.
It’s worth noting that in April this year, ahead of the opening of the National Centre RUSSIA branch in Krasnoyarsk, a regional stand was launched at the exposition in Moscow. Some of the interactive locations from there will be integrated into the exposition part of the future branch, which will also include achievements of the Krasnoyarsk region, its cultural diversity, a department store of Russian brands, a gastronomic zone of local restaurant groups, and venues for public and business events.
The All-Russian classical music marathon "Cantata. Russia" will be held in Moscow and regions across the country on 12 June, Russia Day.
