Foreign students test their knowledge of Russia
A quiz for foreign students studying at universities of the Far East was held at the branch of the National Centre RUSSIA in the Primorye region. The questions covered the Russian language, literature, history, geography, traditions, folklore, and national cuisine.
"The students came here with genuine love for our country. They are not just learning the language – they are discovering the values and ideals of Russian society, getting to know its mentality and culture. Many of them even said they would like to stay here, in Russia, after graduation – and that, of course, is very gratifying," said Liliana Voronova, Head of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and Director of the Regional Russian Language Testing Centre for Foreigners.
Participants included international students from universities across the Russian Far East – in Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Blagoveshchensk, and other cities.
The students were asked 29 questions on a wide range of topics related to Russia, including its composers, scientists, folk tales, and cuisine. They demonstrated an excellent command of the Russian language and a deep understanding of Russian culture and daily life.
The quiz was organised as part of the regional stage of the All-Russian Contest for Foreign Students "StudRussia", the winners of which will travel to Moscow.
The event also formed part of a large-scale programme to promote and popularise the Russian language. As part of this initiative, lectures and workshops are being held at the National Centre RUSSIA in the Primorye region.
