How humanitarian knowledge develops in Russian universities: Expert opinion at the RUSSIA EXPO
On the Day of Russian Science at the RUSSIA EXPO, leading Russian scientists, teachers, government officials and experts discussed the development of humanitarian knowledge in Russian universities.
Andrei Polosin, scientific director of the "DNA of Russia" project, noted the high contribution to the creation and development of the "Foundations of Russian Statehood" course by higher school teachers.
"The country is going through a difficult time, and we are not only living it with the country, we are doing everything to ensure that it continues to advance and the future that we all want comes as soon as possible," said Andrei Polosin.
He also spoke about the plans of the "DNA of Russia" project for 2024 and noted the importance of expanding work with support and methodological centers in the regions, including the development of programs of social and humanities disciplines, the creation of educational content together with the project's partners - the Russian Society "Knowledge" and ANO "Dialogue".
"Our main task is to form a system of humanitarian knowledge related to civic consciousness in the entire educational complex," summarized Andrei Polosin.
Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova, on behalf of Minister Valery Falkov, congratulated the participants on the Day of Russian Science and summarized the interim results of the first year of teaching the "Foundations of Russian Statehood" discipline.
"In less than a year, the professional development program managed to train more than seven thousand teachers. This is a unique course made by a large faculty family," Olga Petrova noted.
Valery Fadeev, Chairman of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, Scientific Director of the Institute of Heritage and Modern Society of Russian State University of Humanities, demonstrated the necessity of rethinking social and humanities sciences taught in higher education institutions by the example of economics, and on the basis of historical examples broke down the myths related to the conditions of economic development, the possibilities of long-term planning in market economies and the national capital factor.
Within the framework of the conference there was a solemn awarding ceremony of the winners of the All-Russian contest "The Best Teacher of the Foundations of Russian Statehood 2023/24" initiated by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Russian Society "Knowledge".
To participate in the contest, teachers of the FRS subject from all over the country sent their video materials with lectures on the topics of the course. In total, several hundred applications were received, the expert jury determined the 20 most interesting and informative works, which were recognized on stage.
"The discipline "Fundamentals of Russian statehood" is especially relevant in the current environment. Thanks to the efforts of teachers in this course, we are immersed in the study of the cultural and historical heritage of the country and its traditional values. Your approaches and practices allow us to pass this knowledge to the younger generation as best as possible, because this is the basis of our future, the future of Russia. Your work is noble, always important and in demand. And the methods you apply in your work, which you share with the teaching community, I am sure, deserve to be promoted and scaled up as the best and most effective," said Kirill Khvil, Deputy Director General of the Russian Society "Knowledge".
The conference was organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Russian Society "Knowledge", the Department of Network and Partnership Projects of RANEPA, the project "DNA of Russia" and the Expert Institute for Social Research. The award ceremony was supported by the online learning platform Lerna.ru.
The National Centre RUSSIA will host a series of presentations titled "Journey Across Russia's Gastronomic Festivals."
