The quintessence of the Russian soul: Vladimir Moiseyev on the production "Russian Seasons. Spring" at the National Centre RUSSIA
Premiere performances of the original multi-genre production "Russian Seasons. Spring" are taking place at the National Centre RUSSIA. The production is timed to coincide with International Women’s Day. Vladimir Moiseyev — First Soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre Ballet, choreographer, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, People’s Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania and Honoured Artist of Kabardino-Balkaria — shared his impressions of the performance. A representative of a renowned choreography dynasty, he praised not only the performers’ skill but also the director’s vision behind the project.
Vladimir Moiseyev highly praised the direction, the multimedia stage design and the performers’ artistry.
"It was done masterfully, at the highest level. This is not simply a product but truly a work of educational significance that reveals the depth of the Russian soul and its dramatic tradition — the very qualities that gave Russian ballet its inner richness, emotional power and the synthesis of the Stanislavsky school with the highest level of ballet artistry. That is why it became popular all over the world and is considered our national art. I would like to thank the entire creative team and congratulate them on this remarkable performance," said Vladimir Moiseyev.
The artist was particularly impressed by the multi-genre approach that brought together a live orchestra, a choir, ballet dancers and opera soloists. According to Vladimir Moiseyev, the creators of the production also succeeded in capturing the spirit of Sergei Diaghilev’s era and his collaboration with fellow artists.
He added that the multi-genre format broadens the audience’s horizons, especially for those experiencing ballet for the first time. "This is one of the best ways to present art — through a combination of genres. For example, the 'Polovtsian Dances' we saw today are performed in the version by Kasyan Goleizovsky, who was known for his modernist approach. Experiencing ballet is always a discovery for the audience, and much of that depends on the performers."
The multi-genre production "Russian Seasons. Spring" is an original project of the National Centre RUSSIA and a tribute to the cultural legacy that helped shape the image of Russia in global culture. The production is dedicated to International Women’s Day and celebrates Russian art, music and dance, as well as the outstanding women whose work gained worldwide recognition. The performance features stars of leading Russian theatres.
