The National Centre RUSSIA congratulates the residents of the Saratov region on Region Day
The first "cosmic harbour" of Russia marks its 89th anniversary. On 5 December, the Saratov region celebrates its Region Day. In accordance with the USSR Constitution of 5 December 1936, the former Saratov Territory was transformed into a new region within the Volga Federal District.
The Saratov land has always been generous: the region’s contribution to the country’s food security cannot be overstated, which is why it is often called the granary of the Volga region. It is also a land with a rich cultural heritage and the birthplace of outstanding thinkers and writers. And it is a true "cosmic harbour": it was on Saratov soil that Yuri Gagarin, the first cosmonaut of the planet, landed, making the region part of world history. Today, the Saratov region is steadily developing its industrial sector, agriculture, tourism potential and social sphere. The region remains one of the key drivers of development in the Volga Federal District.
"Saratov region is a unique land located on the picturesque banks of the Volga. We take pride in our achievements in industry, agriculture, science and education, and in our multicultural heritage, where the traditions of different peoples blend harmoniously. Talented and hardworking people live here, working for the benefit of our home region and the entire country," said Governor of the Saratov Region Roman Busargin.
