Science in the language of stand-up: Science festival for children started at the RUSSIA EXPO
Science
Kids Day, a science festival for children, has been launched in the Atom
pavilion. Leading Russian scientists - astronomers, physicists, biologists,
neurophysiologists - will tell about the latest achievements of science in
simple, understandable language in a stand-up format and will conduct exciting
quests.
"There
are events of different formats for children from six to 18 years old at the
festival. The youngest kids can participate in a quest during the day - go on a
fantastic journey through time and get acquainted with such great scientists as
Albert Einstein, Ernest Rutherford, Marie Curie and, of course, Igor Kurchatov.
The kids will perform various tasks in a game format. For older students we
have a lecture program, which also goes all day long. Biologists,
paleontologists, physicists, neurophysiologists, and astronomers make
presentations", - said Roman Pereborshchikov, deputy head of the Department
of Educational and Outreach Projects of the Atom Foundation.
Today,
astronomers Dmitry Vibe and Vladimir Surdin, biologists Ilya Gomyranov and
Elena Sudarikova, sports psychophysiologist Daria Zhigulskaya and other
scientists give lectures for young researchers and their parents.
In the evening the festival will turn into a
field of scientific duels - Science Slam will be held in the pavilion, said
Roman Pereborshchikov. Scientists will tell the audience about their research
in a stand-up format. The best slammer will be determined by measuring the
decibels of audience applause.
During the New Year vacation in Atom, children
and adults will be able to attend educational classes. Thus, on January 6 and
8, children aged 10-12 are invited to a masterclass in chemistry within the
framework of the project Children's Academy of Atom: together with the teacher,
participants will conduct experiments and learn the secrets of atomic energy.
In
addition, on January 7, geography classes will be held at the Children's
Academy of Atom. The children will be told about climate zones and energy
development in different countries of the world.
On the same day, the pavilion will host two game workshops for families as part of the Family Day project. Participants will not only learn a lot about physical and chemical phenomena, but will also be able to conduct small scientific investigations.
On January 4, 6 and 7, the Pavilion Laboratory will host different masterclasses for adults and children: Nuclear Reactor Purity. New Year's series of experiments, Atom, Christmas Tree Chemistry, Snow Science, Radiation Around.
The event will feature a presentation of a collection of essays written by participants of the international project "Open Dialogue: The Future of the World. New Platform for Global Growth."
