The National Centre RUSSIA and the State Historical Museum signed a cooperation agreement
The National Centre RUSSIA and the State Historical Museum have signed a cooperation agreement in the field of exposition and educational activities. The document was signed by Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA, Natalia Virtuozova, and Director General of the State Historical Museum, Alexei Levykin. The event took place on 27 March in the Parade Vestibule of the State Historical Museum in Moscow.
"It is a great honour for us to cooperate with the State Historical Museum. The National Centre RUSSIA is a young organisation, and the support of the country’s main museum treasury, which carefully preserves our thousand-year history, is very important to us. We are planning a range of joint projects, from expositions to educational initiatives. As early as 3 April, we will open the exposition 'Geography Lessons' together. Visitors will be able to see unique original maps, globes, and books from the collections of the State Historical Museum that cannot be seen anywhere else. Thank you for your trust and support," said Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA Natalia Virtuozova.
For the exposition "Geography Lessons", the State Historical Museum will provide unique cartographic materials, rare books, globes, and other items. Among the exhibits is "Geographia Generalis: The Celestial and Terrestrial Circles Together with Their Properties and Effects: Described in Three Books" (1622–1650) by Bernhardus Varenius. This monumental work by a 17th-century Dutch geographer was long regarded as one of the most important works of its time in physical geography. The book was published in Russian by order of Peter the Great as a textbook for the Naval Academy.
Another exhibit, the "Mars Globe", created in 1993, allows visitors to explore the names of craters and plateaus, valleys, mesas, volcanoes, and other features of the Red Planet.
The significance of the agreement was also highlighted by Director General of the State Historical Museum Alexei Levykin.
"It is symbolic that we are signing this agreement with the National Centre RUSSIA in the year declared by the President of the Russian Federation as the Year of the Peoples of Russia. The combination of our capabilities will contribute to expanding activities aimed at promoting historical knowledge and national culture, as well as strengthening educational potential. Cooperation between two major federal institutions will enable the implementation of large-scale projects that combine the museum expertise of the State Historical Museum with the modern communication capabilities of the National Centre RUSSIA," said Alexei Levykin.
The agreement provides for the organisation of joint events, including scientific and educational programmes, such as the Symposium "Inventing the Future", open lectures, public discussions, and a series of podcasts. Museum specialists will assist in creating expositions and verifying factual materials.
As part of the signing of the agreement, the exposition-presentation "Peoples of the North Caucasus in the Collections of the State Historical Museum" opened in the Parade Vestibule — the first in a series of expositions dedicated to the peoples of Russia.
