The winning projects of the "Learning Through Service. The First" Championship have been announced
As part of the International Forum for Civic Participation #WEARETOGETHER, the finals of the "Learning Through Service. The First" Championship were held at the National Centre RUSSIA. From an initial pool of 10,000 participants, 20 teams were chosen to showcase their innovative projects addressing pressing social issues and to compete for the championship title.
The final project presentations became a vibrant and significant event of the forum. Each project offered a unique solution to a social challenge, covering areas such as environmental protection, assistance to the elderly, animal volunteering, tourism development, preservation of cultural legacy, and improving road safety among youth. Participants employed a variety of creative approaches, including theatrical performances, traditional costumes, and road sign models, to vividly convey the essence of their initiatives.
The Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Youth Policy and the Chairman of the Dobro.rf Association Council, Artem Metelev, emphasized the importance of integrating project-based learning not only in universities but also in high school classrooms.
"After the successful implementation of the pilot 'Learning Through Service' program in universities, it was decided to expand it to schools across Russia. This initiative is beneficial for both personal development and the future professional growth of students. It encourages schoolchildren to actively participate in community life by implementing significant projects. Such experiences help shape an active civic stance and foster responsibility for the country's future. The successful projects presented by high school students are a vivid confirmation of this," stated Artem Metelev.
An expert jury comprised of leading specialists in social work and youth policy selected the winners. At the award ceremony, held as part of the #WEARETOGETHER-2024 forum, the winners were recognized for their contributions to community development.
First place was awarded to students from Secondary School No. 11 in Saransk for their project, "The Friendly Family of Nations," a coloring game aimed at preserving and promoting the cultural legacy of Mordovia.
The second place was awarded to the team from Ult-Yagun Secondary School in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area — Yugra for their board game "Treasures of Nations," which introduces players to the traditions and cultures of Russia's indigenous peoples.
Third place went to Lyceum No. 32 in Vologda for their project, "Kind Helper," a chatbot designed to teach digital literacy to elderly people.
In the "Leaders of the Future" category, mentors of the program were recognized with letters of appreciation for their contribution to fostering civic engagement and social responsibility among youth. The awards were presented by Daria Kozyreva, Head of the Project Management Department of the Movement of the First.
"The educational program and championship 'Learning Through Service. The First' introduced schoolchildren from across the country to professional and socially significant activities. The students gained skills in project management and teamwork, as well as an understanding of the importance of their contributions to the development of their hometowns, regions, and the country as a whole. Participants acquired valuable knowledge and practical skills that will make the program an even more effective tool for social transformation within the educational environment," noted Daria Kozyreva.
The results of the "Learning Through Service. The First" Championship demonstrate that today's youth is an intelligent, active, and responsible generation, ready to shape the future of their country. Supporting such initiatives plays a crucial role in the development of civil society.
The National Centre RUSSIA was established by order of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to preserve the legacy of the International RUSSIA EXPO and to showcase the achievements of the country and its citizens on a permanent basis. Federal government agencies, state companies, corporations, and regions take part in the Centre’s work.
At the National Centre RUSSIA, a panel pitching session titled "Investments in Technology" was held within the framework of the Open Dialogue "The Future of the World. New Platform for Global Growth".
The final panel pitching session for the "Investments in Connectivity" track took place on 29 April at the National Centre RUSSIA.
On the second day of the Open Dialogue "The Future of the World. New Platform for Global Growth" the most remarkable essays submitted by authors in each track were presented.
