Youngsters dreaming of a media career are welcome at the Young Journalists School at the National Centre RUSSIA. The application deadline for studies has been extended until 18 February. Students of 12 to 17 years of age will have the chance to try their hand at the professions of journalist, blogger, or media specialist, and undergo selection for internships at the country's leading media projects. In-person classes will begin on 1 March, on Children's Television and Radio Day, at the "Space of Opportunities" venue of the Movement of the First.

The Young Journalists School was created to help young people take their first steps in the profession, and shape a new generation of media specialists. The programme consists of five modules and includes in-depth study of the Russian language, as well as the basics of journalism and media law. Students will have classes on professional ethics and developing analytical thinking, as well as practical training in creating multimedia content. Furthermore, young journalists will be able to meet and engage with experts from leading federal media outlets and media holdings. During practical sessions, they will cover major events at the National Centre RUSSIA, visit the editorial offices of major news agencies, outlets, and TV channels, and develop their own media projects in teams.

Selection for the School takes place in several stages. To apply, it is necessary to fill out the form on the website russia.ru and complete creative assignments in a format close to the modern media environment by 18 February. After applications are submitted, the lists of candidates admitted to the in-person selection stage will be confirmed on 22 February. Interviews and in-person essay writing will take place from 23 to 27 February, and the final list of participants who have successfully passed the selection will be published on 28 February. Based on the competition results, groups of participants will be formed to undergo in-person training from 1 March to 30 June.

Graduates of the Young Journalists School will receive a certificate of programme completion, their first portfolio featuring their publications on media resources, and social media promotion. The main bonus of the training will be a recommendation from the National Centre RUSSIA for university admission and the opportunity for an internship at major media projects, including the press office of the National Centre RUSSIA. The Young Journalists School project is organised by the National Centre RUSSIA and the Movement of the First with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. The programme partners of the project are the Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation "Dialogue" and the New Media Workshop. The strategic partner of the project is the Russian Centre for Children and Youth.
