Rais Hussin on the impact of global platforms on state economies
The development of digital technologies has had a significant impact on the economic structures of many countries around the world. The traditional economic model, built around territory, is gradually becoming a thing of the past. Today, economic processes are moving to global platforms. This was stated by Dr. Rais Hussin, CEO of EMIR Research, during the conversation with Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation, in the Open Dialogue podcast "OD on Air".
"Take Malaysia as an example. Over 80% of retail trade in our country is conducted online, with almost 90% of this volume coming from foreign sources. That is, territory is no longer limited by geography. The state is becoming part of the platforms, and these platforms will increasingly dictate the terms of global economic operations and international trade," said Rais Hussin.
The podcast with the expert was recorded during the January Expert Dialogues, which are part of the Open Dialogue series of events. The event was initiated by the National Centre RUSSIA in partnership with the Centre for Inter-Industry Expertise "Third Rome", with the support of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation.
