On May 21, the IV meeting of the All-Russian Parents' Committee will take place at the National Centre RUSSIA. It will bring together representatives of relevant authorities, educational institutions and public organisations. Experts will summarise the results of the Parents' Community Initiatives Contest, organised by the Russian society Znanie, and will discuss new approaches to raising the younger generation.

The meeting will open with a welcoming address by the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, Sergei Kravtsov. A key part of the agenda will be the summary of the second season of the Parents' Community Initiatives Competition. The competition is organised by the Russian society Znanie with the support of the Ministry of Education.

In 2024, the first season generated significant interest among parents' communities. As a result, 200 schools from 78 regions of the country were named winners. This year, the second season of the competition was launched, attracting a record number of applications: more than 8,000 from 89 regions of Russia. Following technical evaluation, 4,617 applications were selected for the next stage. Particular attention during project assessment was paid to the relevance and social significance of the proposed initiative, the experience and competence of the team, as well as the level of involvement of children and parents.

Three categories of prize funding are provided for the implementation of the best initiatives: from 200 to 500 thousand roubles, from 500 thousand to 1 million roubles, and from 1 million to 2 million roubles. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners by 30 June, after which they will be able to begin implementing their projects.

During the meeting, the Director General of the Russian society Znanie, Maxim Dreval, will present a report on the results of the second season, highlight key trends in the content of the projects, and share successful practices implemented by the winners of last year’s Parents' Community Initiatives Contest.

The agenda of the meeting will also include other important topics. Svetlana Lazurenko, Head of the Centre for the Development of Inclusive Education at the Russian Academy of Education, will present modern opportunities for the independent participation in society of students with special educational needs. Natalia Naumova, Rector of the State University of Education, will speak about the activities of the "Vershina" Centre for Military-Patriotic Education. Vitaly Korotky, Chair of the Regional Parents' Committee of the Bryansk Region, will also present a report on his committee’s work. In addition, participants will discuss the feasibility of introducing behaviour assessment in general education institutions.

All parents wishing to better understand their role in the upbringing, development and support of children are also invited to join the free online course "Parents and the Upbringing System: Shaping the Future Together" by Znanie.Academy. A certificate is issued upon completion of the course.
