Russia managed to restore populations of three rare predators
Russia has successfully restored the populations of three endangered predators listed in the Red Data Book — the Amur tiger, the Far Eastern leopard and the snow leopard. This was announced by President of the Russian Geographical Society (RGS) and Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu at the RGS Congress. The news is directly related to the National Centre RUSSIA, which has a special connection with the tiger.
The Ussuri (Amur) tiger is the most recognisable inhabitant of the taiga in the Primorye region, embodying the strength and natural power of the area. It is no coincidence that the tiger became the symbol of the Primorye branch of the National Centre RUSSIA.
The image of the tiger accompanies visitors throughout the branch. It appears on coats of arms and logos, in the funicular design, in numerous artworks and displays, and even in the form of the predator’s "footprints" within the branch’s space. Visitors can learn more about the habitat of the Amur tiger and the Far Eastern leopard in the interactive space "Unique Fauna". Digital technologies recreate the animals’ features, habits and interaction with the ecosystem, allowing guests to observe them in conditions close to those of the real taiga.
Rare big cats can also be seen at the National Centre RUSSIA in Moscow. At the exposition "Journey Across Russia", within the Far East section, visitors can explore a fragment of the national park "Land of the Leopard", featuring a photo zone with a tiger and an interactive installation "Taiga Walk of Fame". The animals appear on a holographic screen when guests place special shapes onto corresponding "tracks" on the installation.
Guests of the National Centre RUSSIA can not just see these predators in the expositions but also learn more about them through educational projects. Recently, the Primorye branch hosted a "Tiger Studies" lesson for children titled "The Striped Master of the Taiga", organised by Library No. 20 of Vladivostok together with the national park "Land of the Leopard". On the Centre’s 15th anniversary, a "Tiger Quest" was held for a young visitor from the region, Zoya, and her friends. The event, created by participants of the Young Tour Guides School of Russia, featured two teams completing tiger-themed challenges — from searching for the predator among the "Facets of Primorye" cubes to identifying "tiger" sea creatures inside a bathyscaphe.

On 21 October, 23 young guests from the "Sirius. Primorye" Regional Centre have visited the branch of the National Centre RUSSIA in the Primorye region.
