Tapestries made in ancient traditions

Jacquard weaving appeared near St. Petersburg in the early XVIII century. Masters used special Jacquard looms. With time the craft could have been forgotten, but in 1991 the enterprise "Uzor" ("Pattern"), where the ancient techniques began to be revived, was founded in Leningrad region. Artists studied museum samples, they restored drawings, yarn dyeing recipes and weaving techniques. Now the company has a museum of textiles and everyday life, popular with tourists.
