25 reasons for pride: St. Petersburg–Kazan corridor — a high-speed route to the future
We continue to publish our special project "25 Reasons for Pride," dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Vladimir Putin’s first inauguration. This date has become a symbol of a new course — focused on the development and strengthening of the country’s infrastructure.
One such project is the seamless high-speed corridor from St. Petersburg to Kazan, which includes three of the most advanced expressways: M-11 "Neva," the Central Ring Road (TsKAD), and M-12 "Vostok."
The high-speed corridor has a total length of 1,520 kilometers, features multi-lane traffic without a single traffic light, and allows speeds of up to 130 km/h.
The corridor is equipped with intelligent transport systems: video cameras, vehicle detectors, weather stations, electronic signs, and display boards.
Each of the highways is equipped with modern water treatment facilities, noise barriers, and safe wildlife crossings for forest inhabitants.
Every day, hundreds of thousands of motorists use the M-11, M-12, and Central Ring Road — from tourists and families with children to international carriers.
Multifunctional roadside service areas have been opened, where visitors can not only refuel and have a snack, but also stretch on outdoor exercise equipment, walk their dog, take a shower, and even do laundry.
The St. Petersburg–Kazan high-speed corridor is a route of opportunities, forward movement, and connection between the hearts of the nation.
