25 reasons for pride: maternity capital — time-tested support
Maternity capital is not a one-time initiative, but a well-thought-out strategy. It is trust in parents. It is confidence in the future. It is state care expressed not in words, but in action.
We continue to publish our special project "25 Reasons for Pride," dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the first inauguration of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. It was from that moment that a new social policy began in Russia — with a focus on family, childhood, and justice.
One such decision was the maternity capital program, which has become a true symbol of state support for Russian families.
The program was launched in 2007. Since then, more than 14.6 million Russian families have received maternity capital. The benefit is granted upon the birth or adoption of a second child, and since 2020 — already with the first child.
The funds can be used to improve housing conditions, for children's education, the mother's funded pension, and also for the adaptation of children with disabilities. As of 1 February 2025, the payment amount is 690,267 rubles for the first child and 912,162 rubles for the second (if the benefit has not yet been issued for the first child).
