25 reasons for pride: we save what matters most — a child's life
We continue our special project "25 Reasons for Pride," dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the first inauguration of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. This date marked the beginning of a new era — an era of care for the individual, strengthening of the social sphere, and the return of true values: family, health, and life.
One such reason is the reduction of infant and child mortality in Russia.
Over the past 25 years, the infant mortality rate in Russia has decreased twofold. This is one of the best indicators in the world, comparable to the leading countries of Europe and East Asia.
Mortality among children under the age of 5 has declined thanks to systematic work in perinatal care, prevention, and parental education. Networks of perinatal centres have been established — modern level 3 medical institutions where even the most severe and premature infants are saved.
The national project "Healthcare" has brought medical care for children to a new level. Vaccination, screening, early diagnostics, and digital monitoring of pregnancy — this is a comprehensive system that begins working from the very first week of a future citizen's life.
This is not just statistics — it is the moral duty of the state to families. Because a country that saves its smallest citizens is truly a strong and living country.
