85 teams from 40 regions of Russia registered for the "Dreams of the Future" contest in the first days
The National Centre RUSSIA announced the start of team registration for the "Dreams of the Future" video essay contest on March 10. Within the first two days, 85 applications were submitted by teams of five people from 40 regions of Russia. The main goal of the project is to spark young people's interest in the works of science fiction writers. The contest continues the efforts to revive society's interest in future planning, which began at the International Symposium "Inventing the Future." The event is held as part of the Decade of Science and Technology.
Among the registered participants are teams from the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as the Belgorod, Kemerovo, Kirov, Kurgan, Leningrad, Moscow, Omsk, Tula, Tyumen, Ulyanovsk, Yaroslavl, Krasnodar, Primorye, and Stavropol regions; the republics of Bashkortostan, Buryatia, Dagestan, Tatarstan, Tuva, and other regions of Russia.
Registration is open until April 10. Teams of five people aged 14 to 18 are invited to participate. The contest task is to create a video essay about the future that the authors wish to build. The video must begin with the phrase: "We want to create a future where...". A mandatory requirement is a reference to the works of science fiction writers.
To assist participants, the Russian State Library for Young Adults and the Council on Science Fiction and Adventure Literature of the Union of Writers of Russia, with the support of the Eksmo-AST publishing group, have prepared a list of recommended books. The list is available on the contest website at dream.russia.ru. Video essays can be uploaded to the website from March 24 to April 24.
From April 25 to May 19, the expert jury will evaluate the submitted works based on five criteria: relevance to the theme, technical quality, originality, artistic presentation, and the use of scientific facts.
Twenty teams will advance to the final, with six of them becoming winners and prize recipients.
On June 1, on International Children's Day, a solemn award ceremony will be held at the National Centre RUSSIA. The winners will receive valuable prizes.
The competition is supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the All-Russian Public-State Movement of Children and Youth "Movement of the First," the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in Scientific and Educational Fields under the Presidential Council for Science and Education, the Russian State Library for Young Adults, and the Council for Science Fiction and Adventure Literature of the Union of Writers of Russia.
The literary partner of the competition is the Eksmo-AST publishing group, with the official bookstore network being the federal chain Chitai-Gorod. The social content partner is "YOUF – Your Media About Reading." The analytical partner is VCIOM.
On March 12, the National Centre RUSSIA held its traditional ceremony of appreciation for volunteers.
