Alexei Goreslavsky: "AI has already created more videos than humans"
Artificial
intelligence is no longer a subject of futuristic speculation — it has become
part of everyday media reality. Speaking on the podcast "Russia Speaks",
Alexei Goreslavsky, Director General of the Internet Development Institute,
discussed how our perception of information is changing and why trust in visual
content is rapidly declining.
"The
amount of video produced by artificial intelligence has already exceeded the
volume created by humans. In just a few years, we will reach a point where 99%
of the content around us is generated by neural networks, while only 1% is
created by humans and deliberately labelled — almost like a farm product — to
signal: ‘this was made by a human’," Alexei Goreslavsky said.
According
to the expert, public anxiety about deepfakes has largely subsided: society has
become accustomed to manipulation and now approaches images and videos with
greater caution. He noted that people with little exposure to technology are
increasingly questioning the authenticity of what they see. In this context,
human-made, original content — rare and intentionally created — is beginning to
take on particular value.
