Artur Parfyonchikov shared the Republic of Karelia’s plans and achievements with the National Centre RUSSIA
Adaptation of the economy to new export flows, growth in construction volumes, and a steady rise in investment – Head of the Republic of Karelia Artur Parfyonchikov summed up the region’s results for the year in a conversation with the press service of the National Centre RUSSIA.
"What achievements has Karelia made this year? It is the adaptation of the economy to new export flows and its reorientation towards eastern markets – the Republic is adapting successfully. We are recording continued investment growth. According to data for the first half of the year, investment increased by 1.2 times, which is a strong macroeconomic trend. Overall construction output is increasing, including housing: the commissioning of apartment buildings has almost doubled, and individual housing construction is developing actively," said Artur Parfyonchikov.
A number of major innovative enterprises have begun operating in the region. In Petrozavodsk, Russia’s first digital shipyard has been launched; large-scale production of building stone has started at a stone-processing facility. In the food industry, a plant producing baby food with natural ingredients – including White Sea seaweed – has begun operating, Artur Parfyonchikov noted.
"What is planned for next year? Further development of traditional industries: timber processing, stone processing, and the development of new deposits of building stone, including marble. Production of marble products is planned to begin in Priladozhye; orders have already been placed not only from Moscow but also from abroad. Agriculture and aquaculture are also developing. The mood is constructive, and we are confident that the Republic is developing and moving forward despite the challenges," he added.
